Office Space

We completed construction late last night on a new office for co-worker Scott Crayne, complete with bi-lingual name plate. I'm pretty pleased with our work. I hope he likes it :)

Living La Vita Coco

This is pretty much my new favorite drink. It's full of thirst-quenching nutrients and the splash of pineapple makes it incredibly tasty. Junna actually discovered Vita Coco while we were on Kauai, though it is hardly a Hawaii-specific drink. Since sampling it there, I've found it more places than I'd ever have expected to–including the Gapeteria–back here in San Francisco. They have many other flavors, and although I've only tried tangerine and regular coconut, pineapple is by far still my favorite. Definitely give this a try, even if you don't usually enjoy coconut water. Yum!

Richard Serra - "Charlie Brown"

This 60-foot sculpture from Richard Serra–titled "Charlie Brown"–is located in the lobby of 2 Folsom, the San Francisco headquarters of my employer, Gap, Inc. The crevasse on the right is an opening that allows you to walk inside. It's probably my favorite piece from Mr. Serra, and I love that it is constantly accessible to me. I also just learned that Mr. Serra is from San Francisco, which ties together nicely. Click here to see videos about the creation and installation of the piece.

Colette X Gap

As we anxiously await the opening of Colette X Gap on September 6, we’ve scored a few images from the collaborative, star-studded stash. Apparel will include this Gap denim “Dreamer” jacket by Olympia Le Tan, a customized trench by French graffiti artist André (the belt reads "Andre & Colette hearts New York & Paris"), and illustrated collaborative tees by a mix of French and New York artists and brands, among them Genevieve Gauckler, Jean-Philippe Delhomme, Peter Arkle, Claw Money, Miss.Tic, and Clements Ribeiro. Check out a smattering of accessories below, like this sweet Alexis Mabille clutch, neon-blue Asics sneakers, Oakley shades with star-printed plastic frames, and a tiny knit key ring from Anne-Marie Herckes. The final haul will include an expanded array of crowd-pleasers — a Hello Kitty watch and ties by Adam Kimmel. But we’ll be rushing the doors along with you opening day to get our hands on a Ruben Toledo tee (just part of our never-ending plan to stalk the Toledos. Sigh).

The Second Coming of Khaki

Reinventing Gap, the nation’s largest specialty apparel chain, has been fashion’s equivalent of Merlin’s stone for much of the last decade, as sales and profits have dipped, along with its image among young consumers. Patrick Robinson, 41, is the third designer to attempt to pull the sword since Gap began to publicly acknowledge its creative personnel in 2003, and the most closely watched because of his popularity with industry insiders and his finesse with casual American sportswear. His fall designs have generated promising reviews, but also concern about whether a single designer — one with a mixed track record — can revive a brand with 1,155 stores in the United States in the midst of an economic crisis.
