It's Radiohead: The Screensaver!

It's Radiohead: The Screensaver!

Do computers dream of electric Yorke? Now they do. Radiohead's groundbreaking, camera-less "House of Cards" video is now an interactive screen saver, free to download from TBD Records for Mac OS X and Windows. (Via At Ease Web.)

It's pretty nifty, actually, in a play-at-home Pink Floyd laser show sorta way. Between this and Pineapple Express and all the synchronized diving on the Olympics, I'd expect the productivity of the world's stoner population to hit historic lows this week.

While we're on the subject of distracting web-based delights, this brief, manic video from the In Rainbows sessions was recently uncovered by producer Nigel Godrich and posted to the Radiohead website by Thom Yorke:

So, not exactly "House of Cards II" or anything, but whatever chance we can get to see Thom shake and shimmy, we'll take.

To that end, we've got Radiohead tour dates aplenty down below. Oh, and in case you hadn't heard, Radiohead are very generous, "Reckoner" is on the Choke soundtrack, and Chuck Palahniuk is confused.

Radiohead Score New Film Based on Palahniuk's Choke

Choke" title="Radiohead Score New Film Based on Palahniuk's Choke">

Let me get this straight, Radiohead: according to a BBC 6 Music report [via At Ease], you went and wrote a brand new song for the forthcoming movie Choke-- based on the rather twisted novel of the same name by Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk-- at the behest of actor-turned-director Clark Gregg? And this song is to play over the film's closing credits? And, again, this film is called Choke? But it's a new song? What, was "Exit Music (For a Film)" just too obvious??

Anyhow, this new tune (no word on the title) won't be the only bit of new Radiohead music folks who see Choke will be hearing. The band also composed a bunch of ambient music for the film's score. Here's how Palahniuk himself told it in an interview with BBC 6 Music:

"Clark Gregg...knew that I'd written Choke while listening to Pablo Honey, with 'Creep', over and over and over. So Clark got Radiohead to contribute a song; to write a song for the very end of the movie, the final credits.

"Apparently Radiohead liked the movie so much, they've written the score, most of the ambient music throughout it. So it's 'Choke-- with the music of Radiohead'."

Following a few delays and a few festival screenings (presumably minus the Radiohead), Choke is set to hit theaters September 26. No word yet on a release for the soundtrack, but it's not like 2008 is short of Radiohead-related film compositions. Content yourself in the meantime with Jonny Greenwood's There Will Be Blood score, or Colin Greenwood's contributions to the soundtrack for Woodpecker.

Having shown their philanthropic side yesterday, Radiohead will continue their tour in Camden, New Jersey tonight.
