Weezer - "The Angel And The One"

Weezer has put out a lot of music since their first two brilliant albums, and almost all of it has been pretty forgettable. But there are tracks here and there that stand out, and this, for me, is one of them. Pretty much the "Only In Dreams" of The Red Album, I'm a big fan of it and listening to it often these days.

Weezer Guitarist Brian Bell Debuts New Band

Weezer's Brian Bell has plenty on his plate, what with a new album, the band's forthcoming North American tour, tomorrow's shoot for their fan-friendly video for "Troublemaker", his appearance in that star-studded Malkmus clip, and, of course, the trials and tribulations that come with being the cutest member of a band that inspires a whole lot of schoolyard crushes.

But an upswing in all things Weezer and beyond isn't stopping Bell from maintaining a committed Relationship. Indeed, Bell's band the Relationship-- which, real talk, is quite a good name for a band-- will perform their very first show ever, this coming weekend (if you don't count a few tunes Bell played at Salt Lake City's Kilby Court in late 2006). It's this Saturday (August 23) at Molly Malone's in Los Angeles.

The Relationship's MySpace promises an album is on its way, and more tour dates are coming up fast, too. In fact, Bell will play double duty on a trio of dates on Weezer's fall tour, as the Relationship will join Tokyo Police Club and Angels & Airwaves in the opening slot at three Cali Weezer shows.

Wanna Be in the New Weezer Video?

Young rabblerousers in the greater Los Angeles region, have Weezer got a proposition for you. The nerd rock mainstays are looking for a whole hell of a lot of folks to join them August 21 in L.A. as they shoot the video for Red Album single "Troublemaker". The clip apparently uses their recent Hootenanny gigs as a jumping off point.

Interested parties are encouraged to e-mail weezervideo@gmail.com post haste and hope for the best. Many will enter and not quite as many will get the nod, so the location and other details are forthcoming for those lucky sods who get the invite.

The "Troublemaker" single is out in the UK on September 29. Weezer's forthcoming tour-- including those dates with spiritual heirs Tokyo Police Club and Angels & Airwaves-- is, uh, forthcoming.
