24/7 Wall St. has placed Blockbuster Video near the top of its list for brands most-likely to disappear in 2011.
This makes me very sad. There's just something very nostalgic and comforting about heading to the video store with your gal or family or friends to pick up some movies for the evening. Lost with Netflix is the spontaneous trip to browse the aisles of Blockbuster while cracking wise at all the stupid movies on the shelves and gross candy for sale and then returning home to settle in for a film you didn't have to plan for in advance and wait for in the mail from a queue on a website.
Don't get me wrong I use and love Netflix, but I also would frequent Blockbuster or Hollywood whenever I wanted something right away or just had to see something on a whim that night. I liked having both options and it's too bad that has to change. I remember how exciting and fun it was to go rent a movie with my parents when my brother and I were little, and I guess it's too bad that will now be a thing of the past.

I think there will still be video rental places, just not bushblocker.
oh of course there will still be video rental places, but I will miss Blockbuster specifically. independent video stores just don't have the same glossy appeal, the warm fluorescent glow overhead. they don't have the expansive parking lots and spacious real estate for wide aisles and large store footprints that only a large corporation could afford in places like San Francisco. instead, they will be run down hole-in-the-walls with dirty carpeting and oily movie cases, run by holier-than-thou movie geeks who will roll their eyes as you hand them your selection for the evening consisting of, in my case, almost exclusively romantic comedies starring the likes of Katherine Heigl or Kate Hudson. these are the things I will miss from my beloved Blockbuster.
Haha! Totally. I live right by Le Video and I hate all the snotty bastards in that place. I don't have a lot of experience with Blockbuster, but the one experience I do have is why I call it Bushblocker. I rented Mulholland Drive and they blocked out all the bush!
