"Motion" By Acura

There are so so so many horrible, loud, annoying car commercials on television. Seriously. So many. So when a car commercial is not loud and annoying, that is a plus. But when it's actually good...well, then you blog about it, I guess, haha.

This commerical from Acura is actually completely beautiful to me. I'm very curious as to how they filmed it. I'm thinking maybe the actors were underwater, and then they did some editing to place them in those locations. Also, the voice is apparently James Spader and the music is an étude from Chopin. Excellent choices. Suffice it to say, Acura should be very proud of themselves.

I think they use those spring activated wires that they edit out of the shot like in the movies when someone steps on a grenade and they go flying. Along with high speed cameras. I often wonder what the deal is with car commercials. Do people actually watch a car commercial, then run out to the car store to get a car?

I think Ca-nose is co-rrect. It also reminds me of a Portishead video that Chris Cunningham directed in the late 90's. I'll have to see if there's any commentary on the video.

James Spader's V.O + Chopin = (the aural equivalent of) 3 Vicodin + a bottle of wine + bubble bath.
